Tingha Palace Chinese Restaurant

We used to come here a lot because Slokky's mum knows one of the managers and we never have to wait for a table. Well, now that I’ve started working at Parramatta, it was time to revisit.

Food

I actually remembered the yum cha was better before, so either we were having a bad day, or the standard has gone down.

Good

  • rice noodle rolls
  • dumplings
Bad
  • bbq pork
  • egg tart
  • sticky rice
  • congee

Atmosphere

The place is certainly much calmer on a weekday. On the weekend you find it packed with people, with more people queuing all the way to the Club next door. The décor is your classic Chinese Restaurant, with dragons and phoenix and gold dominating. There are lots of big tables at this restaurant. One thing I do like though is that they don’t squish you in like sardines so at least you (just) have room to breath.

Service

The service in the city has certainly improved but the service in the suburbs have not. These waiters were rude and arrogant, especially because we had non Asians on the table. The trolley ladies were also rude, so maybe they get paid like nothing, that’s why they can’t even smile. It took them ages to deliver the bill too.

C-factor

$18 p.p for 5 people, and we had so much food leftover, but that's because some people hardly ate anything.
