Ta Fong Noodle House 2

Food

It has been awhile, but this time we tried the Vietnamese rice sheet with pork cake ($7.50). The rice sheets were not as silky or smooth as the Chinese ones, but were more like thick noodles. The pork cake was a bit like spam (not that I've had that for years but you get the drift). If you drown it in the sweet chilli sauce though, it all tastes good, especially on a humid day. The vermicelli in the Spring rolls with rice vermicelli ($7.50) were served cold, you combine a bit of that with some of the vegetables and a piping hot and crunchy spring roll, drown in more sweet chilli sauce, and eat. The spring rolls here are always reliable, crunchy and fresh with just the right texture contrast. And of course we had to have the Rare beef noodle soup ($7.00), which were as good as always.

Atmosphere

Funny, but the place wasn't that full and everyone was really quiet and polite, is this the same Flemington I know?

Service

The boss was out and about today, wishing everyone a Happy New Year and giving toys to kids. The mood was happy and the service was speedy and great as usual.

C-factor

Not as cheap as some these days, but if you don't want to cook, it's great.
