Krispy Kreme advertises their milkshakes as “Old fashioned milkshake just like the way it used to be.”. I guess by that they mean they use flavoured syrup instead of real fruit? There’s nothing wrong with that, when sometimes all you want is some comfort food. My caramel ($3.95) was quite nice, malty and sweet, with a scoop of ice-cream to thicken things up. It actually tastes a bit like their donuts!

Slokky loves that fake strawberry taste, so for him, the strawberry ($3.95) was heavenly. For me, it was just like having a Maccas thickshake, except with better quality ice-cream.

New Zealand Natural Milkshake

After my disappointment of my last smoothie here, after having such great smoothies on occasions beforehand, I was really hoping that this will be nice, and I’m happy to report they were up to scratch. They can make either milkshake (1 scoop) or thickshake (3 scoops) with any flavour you like.

I couldn’t go past the banana d’lite, but I made sure I had a taste test first before I got it made. I didn’t have to worry though, as it was one of the best banana ice-cream I’ve had.

I decided against my usual picks of nutty cream flavours, and went for the strawberry surprise instead. This one made a smooth fluffy strawberry milkshake, much better than the Krispy Kreme version, with real strawberry flavours!

I’m glad I went for the milkshake as it wasn’t too creamy or overpowering, the ice-cream and milk blended together very well.

In the usual green packaging. The straws you get are a bit weak to slurp this up, but it was nice and fluffy.

Boost Juice Hottie

It’s winter, so that means the Hotties are back. This year there are some new offerings. I tried the oats so good ($3.50) - a hot and creamy low-fat blend of oats, apple, banana, cinnamon and honey. It wasn’t bad, a thick and creamy drink, with taste of fruit. My only gripe was that it wasn’t mixed properly so all the honey settled at the bottom so when I got there, it was sickly sweet. I guess if the honey had been mixed in, the whole drink would be too sweet too.

I also tried the choc mint mania ($3.50) - an indulgent hot chocolate with a hint of fresh mint. Hmmm, chocolate a bit thin on the ground, but a nice hit of cinnamon.

This one comes in the signature Boost cup, but it’s branded "hottie" and the colour is purple. You can sip straight from the cup.

Ivyhome Dairy Organic Skim Milk

We accidentally bought the skim milk instead of the full fat. Normally drinking skim milk is like drinking water, but I was really surprised as this one from Ivyhome, as it really has taste! The consistency is still very funny but at least it didn’t taste like water!

This must be what the rich people stock their fridge with – designer milk! It comes in a 1L clear glass bottle that won’t look out of place on the kitchen bench.

Breaka Iced Coffee

I was quite surprised, since this iced coffee from Parmalat is made with UHT milk instead of fresh milk, but it flared much better than their fresh counterparts.

Jarrah Chocolatte

I thought this might be another one of those watery chocolate mixed drink. Well, yes and no. Yes - the texture was thin, not like the thick creamy velvety feel of real hot chocolate. No - there was a rich chocolate taste, with little chunks of chocolates. I was surprised that this only contained cocoa powder.

Oak Iced Coffee

Considering Oak and Moove are both produced by Dairy Farmers, I expected this to be very sweet like the Moove, but I think Oak is aimed at the "grown-up" market, so the sugar is much more restrained, and the coffee flavour more intense. I found this quite pleasant, but doesn't really replace an iced coffee.

Australian Fresh Apple & Passionfruit Juice

This beauty from Australian Fresh is more apple juice than anything else. However, if you add more passionfruit it would be too overpowering. The apple is of the cloudy variety, although I would like to know what the other 0.1% is made up of?

Taro Milk Tea

At first I thought it tasted great, not too sweet and with a deep taro flavour, then some of the ice started melting and I realised there is no flavour at all! The pearls are standard and tastes of pretty much nothing, but I love their chewy texture, and of course sucking them up in that big straw! This one has been pre-made from powder, and just like all drinks that are pre-made, is not very good at all. I won't be coming back here.

Very cute. A light purple colour, with black pearls floating around the bottom. The top has been vacuum sealed, and you poke those big straws right through the middle. Half the fun is in the packaging really.
